After five weeks of training we had School Cross Country today. We all did our best and finished the course. Many people placed in their age group race. Congratulations to Logan (1st- 9 year girls), and Leanne (3rd- 9 year girls). Congratulations to Brianna (1st- 10 year girls), Ella (2nd- 10 year girls), Brydie (3rd- 10 year girls) and Beau (5th- 10 year girls). Also congratulations to Taylor (5th- 9 year boys), and Sam (6th- 10 year boys). Well done everyone- you really showed resilience and perserverance!!
On Tuesday the 27th of May 4 year six girls, (Brianna, Ella, Jessica and Melissa), lead by Mrs. Robertson competed in the junior school sustainability challenge at Long Bay regional park. The challenge took place over a 5 kilometre area. There were 36 schools attending and 52 activities to complete in 2 hours. Over the course of the event there were lots of challenges to solve from maths questions to sustainability challenges, e.g. analysing the quality of water, and identifying water bugs. Thanks Mrs. Robertson for leading the girls on this great opportunity!
It was Teach me Tuesday again today. Beau did a great job teaching us how to dance. She was really patient with us, and gave us heaps of opportunities to practise the routine. After 30 minutes we were ready to perform. Watch to see our very first performance of Beau's dance. (Sorry about the video quailty!)

We had such a blast at school this afternoon. We were very lucky to have our very own music lesson with a music teacher called Aston. She brought a large selection of musical instruments with her and we tried our hand at playing them, (many of which we had never played before). We played our instruments along to one of our favourite songs- Uptown Funk! Here's some photos of us playing the instruments. Thanks Aston! It was so funky!

It was Teach Me Tuesday again today. We were treated to another great session, with two very skilled and organised teachers. Ella took us for a netball skills lesson where we stretched, practised passing, shooting and had a mini game.

It's Book Week again at UHPS! This is always one of our favourite times of the year as we have lots of fun opportunities to read and celebrate books. We've had lots of fun things happening this week including a dust jacket competition, decorating our awhina space doors, daily Stop, Drop and Read and library activities, and of course a book parade on Friday! Here's a movie showing some of the weeks' highlights.
In Room 13, we have been learning how to conduct a Statistical Inquiry. First we brainstormed as a class questions for our inquiry projects. Once we had a big question, we had to come up with secondary questions to make our survey. We surveyed at least 20 people from within our community. We had to use at least 3 graphs to show our findings. Finally we analysed our graphs and wrote statements about our results and also thought about what our enterprise outcome may be. Everyone did a great job with their inquiries! Here are some photos of our statistical inquiry charts.
